APCC TRE-in-a-Box

The APCC TRE-in-a-Box is a containerized governance-aware platform for conducting secure, reproducible research with sensitive data. It organizes work around datastore-backed studies, datasets, datafiles, transformations, and recorded governance decisions. PostgreSQL holds authoritative metadata, while lake storage uses Parquet and Arrow-oriented tabular workflows. A trusted runtime resolves configuration and secrets, authenticates users, enforces authorization, and orchestrates governed compute. User code runs against explicitly authorized inputs; outputs remain controlled resources until an approved export permits release. Browser, command-line interfaces and language specific (Python, Julia, R) expose stable control-plane operations without leaking infrastructure authority. Together, these controls preserve provenance, accountability, isolation, and automation across research workflows.
