Sciety is a platform that enhances scholarly communication by promoting community peer evaluation of preprints.
We do this through partnerships with organisations and communities that provide highlights, public reviews and recommendations helping researchers and readers assess the quality and relevance of early-stage research.
Sciety aggregates evaluation content, facilitating multiple community evaluations of the same work.
We utilise the DocMaps and COAR notify protocols to create a machine readable history of the preprint and the evaluation process, so that the act of peer evaluation can be recognised and rewarded as valuable scholarly activity.

Mission

Sciety's mission is to foster trust and transparency in early-stage research by bringing together community-driven peer evaluation initiatives, and ensuring that their contributions are recognised as essential to scholarly communication. We aim to provide researchers with meaningful insights into preprints while building a connected and open ecosystem for research evaluation.
We envision a world where the scientific publishing community thrives on a culture of rapid, open exchange, where the quality and impact of research are amplified by ongoing constructive dialogue and community engagement — and where those contributions are recognised and rewarded.

Key Achievements

Sciety is now home to 35,000 evaluated preprints, with evaluations from 26 community peer evaluation initiatives through 17 organisational partnerships.
This year we increased readership of preprints via the platform by 100%, increased the use of lists as signals of trust in the research by 150% and introduced a custom AI integration to surface related preprints to readers.
