The Electronic Journals Library (EZB), overseen by the University Library of Regensburg as part of the UR Library Services, is a collaborative management system for electronic journals. It provides information on about 120,000 e-journals in all subject areas, including 83,000 freely available titles, as well as uniform access to e-journals and their full texts via institution-specific user interfaces in German and English. The EZB features simple administration and traffic light icons to visualize accessibility. With the collaboration of over 660 participating institutions, it ensures high quality and topicality of data and offers a range of services to support academic literature and information supply.

Mission

We believe in trustworthy information for scientific work. Through transparent cooperation between knowledge institutions, we provide clarity and orientation in the landscape of electronic journals, supporting researchers, authors, and librarians with up-to-date and reliable data.

Key Achievements

1. Cooperative Management of Electronic Journals
About 660 institutions use EZB for managing institution-specific licenses and centralized journal package management. EZB provides information on 120,000 e-journals (as of May 2025). Data quality is ensured through cooperative collaboration. Users can access journal information through institution-specific interfaces in German and English, with traffic light icons indicating accessibility.
2. Various International Services
EZB offers numerous services for academic literature and information supply, with options for integration into other services. The EZB Linking Service allows for checking institution-specific availability of articles.
3. Publishing Information and Cost Transparency
EZB provides publishing information, including institution-specific funding options for publication costs and journal-specific details from the DOAJ. Average publication costs are available via OpenAPC, enhancing transparency around publishing costs.
