CollectiveAccess is free, open-source software for cataloguing and publishing museum and archival collections.

Mission

Based in New York, Whirl-i-Gig (WIG) has worked with museums, archives, libraries, governmental organizations, and scientific research projects since 1995. During this time, Whirl-i-Gig consistently found that affordable, open-source and extensible solutions for digital collections management were virtually impossible to find. Beginning in 2003, in partnership with institutions across the United States and Europe, WIG launched development efforts to fill this commercial gap. The result is CollectiveAccess, a highly configurable cataloging tool and web-based application designed specifically for museums, archives, and digital collections. Today, CollectiveAccess is used by hundreds of academic institutions, art organizations, foundations, corporations, museums, archives, historical societies, and others, around the world.
